Matthew Erickson
President
I began my career in the roofing and building materials industry in 2005 with United Building Products, where I covered New Mexico, West Texas, and the El Paso market. In this role, I managed the local warehouse while also calling on architects, building owners, and contractors, gaining hands-on experience across both operations and sales. Prior to entering the roofing industry, I spent five years with Philip Morris USA, where I negotiated with convenience store contractors and managed a customer base of more than
200 accounts. This experience laid a strong foundation in relationship management, negotiations, and territory development.
In 2009, I transitioned from United Building Products to Carlisle, continuing to serve the same territory I cover today. In July 2010, I co-founded Southern Sustainability, expanding coverage across South Texas, Central Texas, New Mexico, and West Texas/El Paso.
In 2018, we separated into individual territories, at which time I retained the Southern Sustainability name as a DBA for my region. With over 20 years of roofing industry experience, I have successfully grown the market by nearly $30 million from 2005 to the present day through strategic relationships, market development, and long-term customer partnerships. When I’m not running Southern Sustainability, I spend my time with my wife Denise of 26 years and our three children—Tyler, Zach, and Riley. I’ve coached all three of my kids in soccer, which has resulted in many years spent on soccer fields across the region. Our household also includes six dogs, ranging from a Great Dane to a Wiener dog, along with several rescues in between. My wife and I are soon-to-be empty nesters, with our youngest, Riley, set to begin an exciting new chapter after receiving an offer to play soccer at New Mexico State University in August.

Vice President
Originally from Nebraska, my family relocated to New Mexico in 1991, and I have called Rio Rancho home ever since. Growing up, I developed a strong passion for the outdoors while playing soccer and baseball.
I built a 20-year career in the restaurant and hospitality industry, with 14 years dedicated to management, human resources, and leadership development. Throughout this time, I focused on public relations, training and development, and public speaking, gaining valuable experience in team building and organizational growth.
In addition to my professional career, I earned my EMT license from the Albuquerque Fire Academy and spent eight years coaching youth soccer, fostering leadership and teamwork in young athletes. I remain actively involved in the community through Rotary Club, philanthropy efforts, and ongoing work toward our local search and rescue chapter.
Outside of work, I cherish time with my wife, two sons, and daughter. As a family, we enjoy playing sports, camping, fishing, and spending time at our cabin with friends.

Tyler Erickson
Inside Sales
I was born in the early 2000s and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where a strong sense of community and an active lifestyle played an important role in shaping who I am. Growing up in Albuquerque, I spent much of my time outdoors and quickly developed a passion for soccer. What began as a childhood interest became a central focus throughout high school, and I continued my athletic career at the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo, competing at the collegiate level. Playing college soccer challenged me physically and mentally while reinforcing discipline, resilience, and the importance of teamwork.
Soccer has always been more than competition for me — it has also been an opportunity to lead and give back. I served as a Head Coach for U9–U10 players with NM Rapids Soccer Club, where I helped young athletes build confidence and strengthen their skills in a supportive environment. Coaching has been one of the most meaningful ways I’ve stayed connected to the game.
Outside of my work with Southern Sustainability, I stay active and outdoors year-round. During the summer, I spend time working in breweries, camping, hiking, and fishing. In the winter, I focus on snowboarding in the mountains. Regardless of the season, I value staying engaged, active, and connected to both my community and the outdoors.
